Hello Uncle John's,
I can't believe how determined my morning glory plant is. I have a simple wire trellis and they have attacked it. A little scary to think if this was a really big plant and I fell asleep next to it!
Here is a photo. Is it natural for the plant to go to this extent?

Yes, vines are agressive! It is so fun to watch them. We sell Morning Glories in the spring, sown in a pot with a tri-pod. They are up those support poles in no time! Enjoy and don't camp too close to it at night!
Hi. Great idea for the Blog. My morning glory is thriving however is has never flowered. Not even a bud. What could I have done wrong? Thanks. Ann
Hi Ann and thanks for your question. Morning Glories bloom best in poorer soil with little or no fertilizer. In a rainy year they will grow like crazy, but with few blooms. In a dry year, foliage will look rough, but bloom like crazy. They bloom best under stress because a flower exists only to produce seed, so that the plant can reproduce. In good growing conditions, the plant doesn't feel any stress so...no reason to set bud and flower. In bad growing conditions, plant feels it must hurry to flower before it dies. So my belief is to stress the plant a little...high light, less water, no fertilizer. Hope this works. Brad
The advice on morning glory was right on. I have not watered mine for over a week, and the flowers - they are blooming - ! Thanks.
